PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus where sheet materials are hardly wrinkled, and which is excellent in transferability of a toner image to the sheet material and excellent in the conveying performance of the sheet materials. SOLUTION: The sheet materials P fed to a nip part 21 between a photoreceptor drum 14 and a transfer roller 20 are pressed against the vicinity of the end (conveying guide rib 35) on a downstream side in a sheet material conveying direction of a sheet material guiding surface 34 while being held in the nip part 21 between the photoreceptor drum 14 and the transfer roller 20 and also held in a nip part 36 between a pair of resist rollers 18, and deformed by the sheet material guiding surface 34 (conveying guide rib 35) of a pre-transfer guide 30 to profile the flexural deformation of the transfer roller 20, so that they hardly receive force exerted toward the center part from both ends in the shaft direction of the transfer roller 20 when transfer operation is performed while being held in the nip part 21 between the photoreceptor drum 14 and the transfer roller 20.
