PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently prevent falling-over in a vehicle width direction around an ankle as a center while obtaining a sufficient shock absorbing performance at the time of generating shocks. SOLUTION: This shock absorber 20 is a molding molded by foaming a thermoplastic resin, and is installed between a floor panel (vehicle body panel) 10 and a floor carpet (mat) 20. The shock absorber is provided with a main body 32 contacting the floor carpet 20, and a plurality of lateral ribs 32 extending from the main body toward the floor panel 10 and parallely forming a plurality of grooves 36 toward the vehicle width direction while directing a longitudinal direction to the vehicle width direction of the automobile. Thickness H1 of the shock absorber 30 is set to 20-100 mm, and density is set to 0.025-0.10 g/cm<SP>3</SP>. Ratio L1/H1 of the thickness of the lateral rib against the thickness of the shock absorber is set to 30-60%, and ratio S2/S1 of a total area of a projection area of the lateral rib against a projection area of the main body when projected on a plane PL1 vertical to an extension direction D1 of the lateral rib in the extension direction is set to 50-80%.
