METHOD FOR CONTROLLING IMAGE IN WIRELESS TERMINAL

A method for controlling an image in a portable terminal is provided to enable a message sender to send a facial expression photo which expresses a current emotion of the message sender in a message transmission mode. A method for controlling an image in a portable terminal comprises the following several steps. A controller senses receipt of a message in a portable terminal(301). The controller checks whether a facial expression photo is attached at the message(302), and if the facial expression photo is attached at the message, the controller notifies a message receiver that a message is received while displaying the facial expression photo(303). If the facial expression photo is not attached, the controller analyses content of the received message and extracts an emotional state of the message sender(304). The controller extracts the kind of the facial expression matched with the extracted emotional state and searches for information on the message sender(305). If the controller searches for a photo of the message sender via a photo phone book, the controller extracts a photo of the message sender, applies the facial expression, matched with the extracted emotional state, to the extracted photo(306). The controller notifies the user that the message is received while displaying the photo of the message sender where the facial expression is applied(307).
