PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video camera apparatus which can simultaneously record animation and still images, and can record clear still images at animation recording. SOLUTION: The dual-purpose apparatus can perform tape recording in a recording/reproducing apparatus 36 and disk recording, in a recording/reproducing apparatus 102 that shares the same optical system 21. The apparatus once stores image data in a plurality of frames into a buffer memory 30 and reads out desired image data from the buffer memory 30 through operations of a timing change SW 7, at a desired timing to record high-resolution still images into a disk within the recording/reproducing apparatus 102.
