A message transmission method and a mobile terminal for performing the same are provided to reduce the possibility that a user fails to send a message by automatically transmitting the message at a message transmission time previously inputted by the user. A message storage unit(510) stores a receiver number, a message corresponding to the receiver number and message transmission time information. A time information determining unit(520) checks whether the current time is identical to the message transmission time stored in the message storage unit(510). If so, a message identifying unit(530) identifies the message stored in the message storage unit(510). A message transmission unit(540) transmits the identified message to a reception terminal corresponding to the receiver number through a message relay server.
