<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system adopting a PON wherein the initial investment and the communication apparatus containing space of a facility in a communication station building can considerably be reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmission system 1 adopting the PON is provided with: station apparatuses 11 whose number is required for respectively allocating channels to (N×M)/(a multiple of 2) sets of subscriber apparatuses only among N×M sets of subscriber apparatuses; and a channel allocation apparatus 15 that respectively allocates only the subscriber apparatuses connected to N/(a multiple of 2) sets of core wires among N sets of core wires respectively branched from M sets of N-branch splitters 31 to 38, wherein the channels can be allocated by a required number of the station apparatuses 11 installed as the facility in the communication station building. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
