PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car navigation system capable of starting normal navigation operation at the time of its starting, even if the system is moved after its operation is stopped. SOLUTION: The system is provided with a position detecting means 1 for detecting the present position of its own vehicle, a direction detecting means 2 for detecting the direction which the vehicle faces at present, a change spot registering means 3 for registering a spot where at least one of the position and the direction is changed as a change spot, a change spot discriminating means 4 for discriminating whether or not the position detected by the position detecting means at the time of the starting is within a predetermined range from the change spot registered by the change spot registering means, and a position/direction changing means 6 which changes at least one of values representing the position detected by the position detecting means and the direction detected by the direction detecting means, to a changed value predetermined with respect to each of the position and the direction, when it is discriminated to be within the predetermined range by the change spot discriminating means.
