PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer having a fixing assembly of simple and small-sized structure capable of controlling temperature of an endless belt and also detecting fracture of the endless belt. SOLUTION: In the fixing assembly constituted by extending the endless belt between a heat roll and a fixing roll, at least one temperature detection element is arranged to the endless belt and the printer which has a means for detecting the temperature of the endless belt and detects the fracture of the endless belt according to temperature detection characteristics of the endless belt detected by the temperature detection element is provided.
