PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for a tire air pressure transmitter to store ID information therein for radio-transmitting it together with air pressure information, and to cause a vehicle body side communication apparatus to discriminate between a tire air pressure transmitter on a wheel of an own vehicle and a tire air pressure transmitter on a wheel of another vehicle, as to a tire air pressure monitoring system. SOLUTION: The vehicle body-side communication apparatus in the tire air pressure monitoring system radio-transmits signals 51 to 54 for electric power charge to the tire air pressure transmitter at random intervals by a referential number of times. Among sets 71 to 74 and 85 of air pressure data radio-received within referential time periods 61 to 64 after the respective radio-transmissions are performed, if there are subsets 71 to 74 including two or more groups of tire air pressure data having sameness and the number of the pressure data included in the subsets is equal to or more than a referential number, those pressure data are processed as the tire air pressure of the wheel of the own vehicle.
