PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a confocal endoscope capable of obtaining a tomographic image of a body cavity tissue sliced at a prescribed plane even if confocal observation of a region which greatly vibrates because of the pulsation of an upper digestive tract is performed. SOLUTION: The confocal endoscope has a confocal observation member for obtaining a confocal operation observation image of a subject in a projecting part disposed at the distal end of an insertion tube, and a first suction port is disposed in the projecting part for sucking the body cavity tissue in the periphery of the projecting part.
