A method and a system for registering the coloring music of a receiving-side phone by a caller are provided to eliminate the inconvenience of coloring registration procedures by inputting a specific code number directly through a terminal and setting/registering coloring of the other part conveniently, without the necessity of accessing a webpage or contents. The user of an originating terminal inputs the destination number of a receiving-side terminal and specific code number information in order to call the receiving-side terminal(S300). The originating terminal makes a call setup request with the receiving-side terminal through a mobile communication network and sets up a speech path(S302). If the speech path is established, an MSC searches an HLR to confirm whether the user of the originating terminal is a subscriber of a coloring service(S304). If it is judged that the user is a subscriber, the MSC transmits the specific code number information and MINs(Mobile Identification Numbers) of the originating and receiving terminals to a coloring server(S306). The coloring server extracts matched coloring data among the previously stored coloring data, based on the received specific code number information and MINs(S308). The coloring server transmits a short message containing a coloring registration/cancellation menu to the receiving-side terminal(S310).
