<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new sulfonic acid group-containing polyarylene ether compound capable of forming an ion-conducting membrane having conspicuous characteristics and useful as a binder resin for a membrane-electrode assembly, and to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: There are provided a sulfonic acid group-containing polyarylene ether compound comprising a component represented by general formula (1) in a molecular chain and a method for producing the same, wherein X<SB>1</SB>to X<SB>8</SB>each independently represent hydrogen, a sulfonic acid group, or a derivative of sulfonic acid group, provided all are not hydrogen; and Y represents a sulfone group or a ketone group. In addition, there are provided a composition, an ion-conducting membrane, an assembly, a fuel cell, an adhesive, and a method for producing the ion-conducting membrane, using the sulfonic acid group-containing polyarylene ether compound. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
