<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct methanol fuel cell system capable of preventing inhibition of a stable operation of a system without causing cell reversal due to fuel shortage. <P>SOLUTION: The direct methanol fuel cell system is provided with a fuel cell main body 1 equipped with proton-conductive polymer solid electrolyte 4, a pair of air electrode 5 and a fuel electrode 3 arranged at either side, and a fuel tank 2 storing liquid fuel to be supplied to the fuel electrode 3. A light-emitting element 11 is provided at a side face at a position lower than a liquid face detection position of the liquid fuel of the fuel tank 2, as well as a light-receiving element 12 at a side face of the liquid face detection position or a position higher than that, whereby, the liquid face of the liquid fuel inside the fuel tank 2 is detected by detecting whether a signal sent from the light-emitting element 11 is received by the light-receiving element 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
