PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve transfer efficiency and to make image quality higher by facilitating the transfer of toner from an intermediate transfer body to a paper, especially when a rough surface paper is printed at high speed by a tandem full-color printer, in electrophotographic system electrostatic transfer. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic apparatus, a plurality of electrodes 8 are provided in the intermediate transfer member 2 and an alternating electric field whose polarity is reversed is applied to the electrodes 8, to slightly vibrate toner 3 and easily separate the toner 3 from the intermediate transfer member 2, so that transfer efficiency to a paper 5 is improved.
