PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means of regenerating a grain boundary precipitation type heat resistant magnesium alloy such as an Mg-Al-Ca-Sr-Mn based alloy in works as a superplastic material. SOLUTION: The magnesium alloy diecast scrap subjected to degreasing and cleaning is subjected to hot extrusion molding at an extrusion temperature of 573 to 723 K at an extrusion ratio of≥40 in the air or in an inert atmosphere, thus grain boundary precipitates are subjected to solid phase joining as being reoriented at the spacing of <10μm parallel to the extrusion direction. In this way, the precipitates reoriented to <10μm suppress the growth of grains during the extrusion, so as to produce the superplastic material having the fine crystal grains of <10μm. In this invention, the superplastic material is produced by a relatively simple means from the needless scrap hard to be recycled, and the two purposes, scrap treatment and high performance material production, can be simultaneously attained.
