PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for stably and precisely supporting a ceiling brick of a combustion chamber when carrying out hot repair of a ceiling or a side wall of the combustion chamber in a coke oven. SOLUTION: The method for supporting the ceiling brick of the combustion chamber comprises putting a cross beam on the vicinity of an upper-end opening part of a checking hole formed at the ceiling part of the combustion chamber, fixing a half nut on the cross beam, hanging a supporting rod through the checking hole in the combustion chamber, screwing a screw installed in the upper end part of the supporting rod in the half nut, inserting a cotter into a through hole formed at the lower part of the supporting rod to hold a hung plate, and lifting the supporting rod by rotating the half nut to lift and support the ceiling brick.
