PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a confocal endoscope capable of adjusting the depth of the Z-axis of the focal position of the incoming luminous flux in the confocal observation even if a light source device is apart from an endoscope body, and/or permitting easy operation of a treatment appliance while performing the confocal observation. SOLUTION: The confocal endoscope has an operation means in a handle part of the confocal endoscope. The operation means is for operating a Z-axis depth adjusting mechanism for changing the depth of the focal position of the incoming luminous flux in the confocal observation by driving at least part of an optical member constituting a built-in confocal observation member in a confocal observation part for the confocal observation. The operation means has a lever which is movable between a first position and a second position, and the Z-axis depth adjusting mechanism is driven by moving the lever to change the depth of the focal position.
