Provided are a filter having a simple structure and capable of being easily installed and replaced, a filter casing, and a method of assembling a filter. The filter (1) has a casing (20) and a filter element (10) received in the casing (20). The filter element (10) has porous partition walls forming cells that have openings in a lower end surface (14) of the element and penetrate up to an upper end surface of the element. The casing (20) has a casing body (25) surrounding a side surface of the filter element (10), and also has a cap (23) covering an upper part of the filter element (10) and detachably fitted to a casing body (25). The casing body (25) has a tubular side wall section (26) having a hollow section (29) through which the filter element (10) can be installed and taken out upward, and also has a flange (27) projecting inward from a lower part of the side wall section (26). The filter element (10) is supported by the flange (27).
