This invention provides an Ag monoxide-type electric contact material that has such general-purpose properties that various loads of alternating current general-purpose relays and relays for mounting on automobiles and the like can be controlled and has excellent durability even in the case of a size reduced relay. The Ag monoxide-type electric contact material comprises an internally oxidized Ag-Zn-Sn-Te alloy comprising 5.1 to 8.0% by weight of Zn, 0.01 to 5.0% by weight of Sn, and 0.01 to 1.5% by weight of Te with the balance consisting of Ag or an internally oxidized Ag-Zn-Sn-Te alloy comprising 0.01 to 5.0% by weight of Zn, 5.1 to 8.0% by weight of Sn, and 0.01 to 1.5% by weight of Te with the balance consisting of Ag.
