A file search method of a video recording apparatus is provided to easily search a file by using a title name and a genre name by formulating and inputting the title name together with the genre name for each video file. A control unit stores a video file in a data storing medium(S10,S11). The control unit sets a genre name of the stored video file(S12). The control unit sets the first title name of the stored video file(S13,S14). The control unit connects the set genre name to the set first title name, and stores the connected name as the second title name of the video file. The first title name is arbitrarily inputted by a user.
