A 2D-3D switchable images stereoscopic image display device is provided to utilize both display panels emitting the polarized light and non-polarized light and to prevent the luminance reduction. A 2D-3D switchable stereoscopic image display device includes a display panel(10) supplying an image and a lenticular unit(20) for passing the image provided from the display panel in a 2D mode and dividing the image into images for the left and right eyes in a 3D mode. The lenticular unit comprises first and second lenticular sheets(22,26), which are arranged so that the lens surfaces face each other; a quarter wavelength plate(24) disposed between the first and second lenticular sheets to rotate a polarization plane of the incident light at 90 degrees; first and second electro-optical media(23,25) filled between the first lenticular sheet and the quarter wavelength plate and between the second lenticular sheet and the quarter wavelength plate, respectively to change a refraction index to abnormal rays according to the apply state of an electric field; and transparent electrodes(27a,27b,28a,28b) applying the electric field to the first and second electro-optic media, respectively. |
