<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical compensation sheet which contributes to improvement of a viewing angle characteristic of a liquid crystal display device, and to provide a liquid crystal display device using the optical compensation sheet. <P>SOLUTION: The optical compensation sheet has at least a support and an optical anisotropic layer formed of a composition containing a liquid crystalline compound, wherein the optical anisotropic layer has a support side surface and an air interface side surface, an inclination angle of molecule of the liquid crystalline compound is changed in accordance with a distance from the surface of the support side and the inclination angle a<SB>1</SB>of molecule of the liquid crystalline compound on the surface of the support side is 20° or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
