<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive unit for a vehicle equipped with a differential mechanism where a differential action for distributing the output of an engine to a first motor and an output shaft is operable and a second motor installed on a power transmission path from the differential mechanism to a driving wheel, and to especially provide a controller for improving fuel costs in a high speed traveling operation. <P>SOLUTION: A speed change mechanism 10 is switched to a stepless speed change status and a non-stepless speed change status by installing a changeover clutch C0 or a changeover brake B0 so that it is possible to provide a drive unit equipped with both merits of the fuel cost improving effects of a transmission whose change gear ratio is electrically changed and the high transmission efficiency of a gearwheel type gear for mechanically transmitting a power. Also, a differential part 11 is put in a stepless speed change status by a changeover control means 50 when acceleration or deceleration is requested, and an engine rotating speed N<SB>E</SB>is freely set by a hybrid control means 52 regardless of a speed V so that acceleration feeling(acceleration sense) or deceleration feeling(deceleration sense) can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
