<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coding apparatus capable of achieving a high compression rate under a comparatively light processing load. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus 2 (coding apparatus) applies prediction coding to received image data by using a value of a pixel at a position apart from a pixel X of interest by 6 pixels and a value of a pixel at a position apart from the pixel X by 8 pixels for predicted pixel values. A high prediction hit rate can be expected for images at 2-pixel period, 3-pixel period, or 6-pixel period by using the value of the pixel at a position apart from the pixel X by 6 pixels to predict a value of the pixel X. Similarly, a high prediction hit rate can be expected for images at 2-pixel period, 4-pixel period, or 8-pixel period by using the value of the pixel at a position apart from the pixel X by 8 pixels to predict a value of the pixel X. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
