PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp lighting device in which initial illuminance correction control is carried out so as not to give an uncomfortable feeling to a person when filament electrode heating is switched before and after lighting. SOLUTION: The fluorescent lamp lighting device FOC is provided with a high frequency lighting circuit HFO which has a high frequency generating circuit INV controlled with constant power, a load circuit LC in which a fluorescent lamp FL is energized by the high frequency output, and a filament electrode heating circuit FWC using the high frequency output, with a dimming control circuit DCC in which the fluorescent lamp is made to be dimmed and lighted, with an initial illuminance correction control circuit ICC in which illuminance by the fluorescent lamp is maintained nearly constant, with the filament electrode heating control circuit FWC in which the filament electrode heating is controlled, and with a switching means SC after lighting in which the filament electrode is heated in advance to lighting, in which the filament electrode heating control circuit is controlled and synchronized so as to reduce the heating after lighting and in which the control by the initial illuminance correction control circuit is started.
