PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air-cooled engine capable of further enhancing the cooling effect of a combustion chamber and a cylinder, by introducing cooling air to the vicinity of the combustion chamber and the cylinder. SOLUTION: In this air-cooled engine 10, first and second cylinder cooling passages 101 and 102 introducing the cooling air are arranged between the cylinder 26 and a motive power transmission mechanism 70, and a head cooling passage 104 introducing the cooling air is arranged between a valve system chamber 65 and the motive power transmission mechanism 70, and the first cylinder cooling passage 101 and the head cooling passage 104 are communicated by a pair of communicating passages 105 and 105, and a guide cooling passage 107 is communicated with the head cooling passage 104.
