PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure in which generation of a streak on an image can be prevented certainly even in case of high speed printing. SOLUTION: The thermal transfer printer comprises a supply side roller around which an ink ribbon is wound, a winding roller around which one end of the ink ribbon is stretched, a winding rotation control means for taking out the ink ribbon wound around the supply side roller sequentially by rotating the winding roller, a thermal head for transferring dye of the ink ribbon taken out from the supply side roller to a print sheet, and a means for applying a load in order to take out the ink ribbon from the supply side roller.
