<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus using spherical toner and capable of prolonging the lifetime of a photoreceptor (image carrier lifetime) and enhancing the image quality using a simple constitution, a small multicolor image forming apparatus, and a process cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a photoreceptor drum 1; a non-contact charging roller 21; laser light 4; a developing device 29 which supplies toner, as a developer from a developing roller 8 as a developer bearing member to an electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1 to visualize and develop the latent image, and simultaneously, removes toner remaining on the photoreceptor drum 1; a transfer roller 15; and a toner charge amount control member 19 disposed between the transfer roller 15 and the non-contact charging roller 21 for controlling the charge amount of residual toner after transfer on the photoreceptor drum 1, wherein toner ejection mode for ejecting toner accumulated in the toner charge amount control member 19 can be executed and the linear velocity of the photoreceptor drum, during execution of the toner ejection mode, is kept lower than that during image formation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
