<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of inproving users'convenience even in a scanner printer system in which a plurality scanners are connected to one printer with a daisy chain in an roughly coupled interface, and an image processing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: When a start button is depressed on an UI of a scanner A for starting processing in which scanning is executed with a scanner B and image processing of scanned data is executed with the scanner A, the scanner A transmits a scanning command to the scanner B. Upon receiving the scanning command, the scanner B executes scanning of an original document, and transmits scanning data to the scanner A. Upon receiving the scanning data, the scanner A performs image processing of the scanning data and transmits the scanning data to a printer.
