<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system capable of specifying an original provision destination of information necessary to access a file used by a user when requesting the file even if the files to be provided are same. <P>SOLUTION: This document management system includes: a document management server 10 associating and managing a document and an original copy ID for uniquely specifying the document; and a client 30 connected to the document management server 10 via a network. In the document management system, the document management server 10 receives acquisition request of a duplicate copy ID necessary to access the document from the client 30, generates the duplicate copy ID different in each the received acquisition request, and transmits the generated duplicate copy ID to the client 30 as a response to the acquisition request. The document management server 10 manages derivation relation information showing derivation relation between the original copy ID shown in the acquisition request and the duplicate copy ID generated to the original copy ID.
