<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control unit for a polyphase motor by which switching to a PWM control means from an instantaneous value control means is smoothly performed. <P>SOLUTION: PI control is performed by PI control portions 84, 86, based on differences between actual currents id, iq computed based on actual currents iu, iv, iw and command currents idc, iqc. These outputs are converted by a converting portion 92 to become final command voltages vuc, vvc, vwc. At PWM control, the control is performed so that these command voltages may be obtained. Instantaneous current value control is performed, based on differences between the actual currents iu, iv, iw and command currents iuc, ivc, iwc.
