<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that weakening in the strength of adhesion of a catalyst layer carried by a metal honeycomb to the metal honeycomb is likely to cause the catalyst layer to peel off by vibration, cooling, heating or the like in the metal honeycomb with the smooth surface, thereby disabling an exhaust gas clean device from maintaining the cleaning performances. <P>SOLUTION: Peeling of the catalyst layer from a substrate such as the metal honeycomb is prevented by enhancing the adhering strength by increasing contact points and the area of contact surface of the catalyst layer with the metal honeycomb through adding particulates, fibrous materials and an affinity adhering layer into the catalyst layer. Also peeling can be prevented not only by the process of adding the particulates to slurry but also by preparing the powder size distribution generating a plurality of peaks by mixing the particulates in a slurry preparing process. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
