PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning reel for fishing by which various kinds of problems caused by the vibration occurring at reverse rotation of a rotor are solved, and which has excellent durability of a spool-reciprocating mechanism, and free movability at the reverse rotation of the rotor. SOLUTION: The spinning reel has the rotor 3 having a fishline-guiding part for guiding the fishline to the spool 4 by the rotation according to the operation of rotating a handle shaft 5, a spool shaft 12 having the spool 4 attached to the tip thereof, and the spool-reciprocating mechanism 13 for changing the movement of the rotary operation of the handle shaft 5 to the front and rear reciprocating movement of the spool shaft 12. The spool-reciprocating mechanism 13 has a switching member 18 for switching the spool shaft 13 into the state in which the spool shaft 13 does not carry out the front and rear reciprocating movement at the rotation of the rotor 3 for taking out the fishline from the spool 4 according to the operation of an operator.
