The invention relates to a condenser-type heat exchanger (1) comprising a set of welded plates which define interpenetrating fluid circuits therebetween. According to the invention, the exchanger is characterised in that it comprises: at least two welded plate modules (52, 53) which are each equipped with an independent refrigerant circuit (CF₁, CF₂), whereby fluid CF₂ is preferably colder than fluid CF₁; and a connecting chamber (66) which connects two modules in series to the circuit of the fluid to be condensed, such that the circulation direction (V_D, V_A) of the fluid to be condensed is reversed at the passage from one module (52) to the next (53).
