A method for setting system environment by using a GPS(Global Positioning System) signal is provided to receive the GPS signal and automatically set the system environment suitable for a current position by composing a GPS module in an electronic device like a DVD(Digital Video Disc) player. A microcomputer receives a GPS signal received by a GPS module, and detects a current position(S10). The microcomputer sets a system environment setting mode on the basis of the detected current position(S11,S12). If the system environment setting mode is set up, the microcomputer automatically sets system environment which is identical to the current position(S13).
