<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transmission system and data transmission method in which additional information capable of more improving user convenience can be transmitted together with a digital broadcast while saving useless signal transmission not including real data caused by null packet insertion in the digital broadcast. <P>SOLUTION: In a data transmission system for packetizing, multiplexing and transmitting a plurality of transmission data including video and audio data, an additional information processing section 16 is provided for accumulating and packetizing additional information and when the amount of the plurality of transmission data for a predetermined time is reduced for matching the data length of stream data for a predetermined time with a specific value, a stream generating means 13 generates the stream data by adding a null packet without contents or an additional information packet having the same packet identification information as the null packet to the plurality of transmission data and multiplexing them. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
