<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a personal identification system capable of specifying a customer without installing various living body authentication apparatuses. <P>SOLUTION: The personal identification system is constituted of connecting a personal identification terminal device 1 for allowing a customer 6 requiring a transaction to execute receiving processing before the transaction, an automatic transaction apparatus 2 requiring customer information and personal identification in executing the transaction and a master apparatus 3 for storing and managing customer information and living body feature information of the customer himself (or herself) in each previously registered customer prior to the transaction through a communication line 5. The personal identification terminal device 1 is provided with a living body information recognition part capable of sampling living body feature information. The master apparatus 3 retrieves the customer information from the living body feature information sampled by the personal identification terminal device 1, receives and registers each corresponding customer information as a transaction customer in the processing order, and when customer information is input from the automatic transaction apparatus 2, retrieves the received/registered customer information.
