摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably render a liquid crystal into bend alignment in a liquid crystal display apparatus having an increased response speed by use of an OCB (optical controlled birefringence) mode in which a liquid crystal shows bend alignment. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal can be subjected to bend transition by applying a transition voltage higher than a display voltage to display an image on the liquid crystal. Therefore, by preliminarily applying the transition voltage in a transition period prior to an image display period to render the liquid crystal into bend transition, the OCB mode can be used in the image display period and the LCD has a fast response speed.
