PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an xDSL communication system, a communication device, and a parameter change method, which are capable of changing a parameter in a short time. SOLUTION: When a change request of a parameter which doesn't require adjustment of a modem part when being changed occurs, a first communication device 11 multiplexes control data indicating a setting change of the parameter, with user data and transmits the user data. When receiving the control data indicating the setting change of the parameter, from the first communication device 11, a second communication device 12 changes the parameter used by itself and transmits control data showing a response to the control data indicating the setting change, to the first communication device. The first communication devices 11 changes the parameter used by itself when receiving the control data showing the response to the control data indicating the setting change.
