PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize the operation of a ring gear 7 integrally rotatably joined to a crankshaft 3 of an internal combustion engine 1 of a monitoring system of a starting device of the internal combustion engine 1, and to perform the fatigue analysis of the ring gear 7, the reverse rotation detection of the crankshaft 3, and the change detection of a crank angle. SOLUTION: The monitoring system includes a strain gauge 15 installed on the ring gear 7 for detecting the strain of the ring gear 7, a transmitting means 20 installed to the ring gear 7 for wirelessly transmitting a detected output of the strain gauge 15, and a receiving means 30 installed to a non-rotary fixed member other than the ring gear 7 for receiving a transmitting signal from the transmitting means 20 and grasping the operation of the ring gear 7.
