A gallstone shock wave treatment X ray imaging procedure first (15) generates an image dataset (8, 18) containing the stone (14) and a marker (10), then (17) a a low dose small field image (26, 38) with only the stone and marker just visible, which is oriented using the marker and displayed with position information (34, 42) from the first image during the treatment.
