Fire extinguisher (10) contains water-based fire extinguishing preparation stored ready for use in a container (11), releasing device (16) to open the container's fluid channel and supplementary container (23) in which an additive such as foam or cleaning agent is stored. Supplementary container is attached to the end of the extinguisher hose and its interior is or can be connected to a flow channel leading from container to mouth of the extinguisher hose via a mixing device (24). Mixing device is embodied as an injector after the fashion of a Venturi valve which releases the additive into the flow channel.
