摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmissive liquid crystal display apparatus having a high contrast ratio in a wide range and capable of displaying an easily visible image when adapted to a transmissive liquid crystal display apparatus functioning in an IPS (in-plane switching) mode. <P>SOLUTION: The transmissive liquid crystal display apparatus includes: an optical film which comprises a polarizing plate (1) having a transparent protective film (1-2) having &le;10 nm in-plane retardation and 30 to 100 nm retardation in the thickness direction layered on a cell side surface of a polarizer, and a retardation film having 0 to 0.35 Nz value and 60 to 450 nm in-plane retardation, layered on the polarizing plate (1), and which is disposed in one side of a liquid crystal cell driven in an IPS mode; and a polarizing plate (2) disposed in the opposite side of the liquid crystal cell, the polarizing plate (2) having a transparent protective film (2-1) having &le;5 nm in-plane retardation and &le;30 nm retardation in the thickness direction layered on the cell side surface of a polarizer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
