A breast pump has an air relief valve 58 connected to the pump cylinder 11, for the escape of any enclosed air, and a chamber 44 at the end of the cylinder to trap any milk which passes along the suction pipe 28. One wall of the chamber 44 is provided by the disc 46, forming part of the cylinder head which is screwed on by a toothed rim 47, and the other 51 is a transparent disc held in position by a threaded ring 49. The nipple 27, for attachment of the pipe 28, passes into the chamber and has lateral openings 57 but a closed end, to prevent milk passing directly through the orifice 45 into the cylinder. For convenience, the relief valve 58 is mounted on a connection 33<SP>1</SP> provided for a .pressure gauge. |
