<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user-friendly image forming apparatus by providing an optimal non-image forming region corresponding to the transmission source of image data and the open/close state of a pressure plate, and to provide a method of controlling the same. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a manuscript placing table and a pressure plate 111; an image reading unit 101 for reading the image data from a manuscript, a pressure plate open/close sensor 109 for detecting opening/closing operation of the pressure plate 111, a printer controller 50 which receives image data from an external device 150, judges the transmission source of the image data, and forms a non-image forming region on a recording paper P; and an image forming unit 1 which forms images based on the image data on the recording paper P. The printer controller 50 provided to the image forming device determines the range of a non-image forming region on the basis of the judgement result of the transmission source of the image data and the detection result produced by the pressure plate open/close sensor 109. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
