<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to instantaneously judge the possibility of a head-on collision between a driver's own vehicle and an oncoming vehicle at the time of discriminating the oncoming vehicle by a rader device. SOLUTION: A horizontal deviation &delta d to be a horizontal distance between an original proper course R of a driver's own vehicle Ai and a contact position P bringing the vehicle Ai into contact with an oncoming vehicle Ao is calculated based on a relative angle &theta , a relative distance L and a relative speed Vs detected by the rader device and the vehicle speed Vi of the vehicle Ai detected by a vehicle speed sensor, and when the horizontal deviation &delta d is included in the range of &delta dn<&delta d<&delta dx, the existence of possibility of generating a head-on collision between the vehicle Ai and the oncoming vehicle Ao is judged. Since the horizontal deviation &delta d can be calculated based on the relative angle &theta , the relative distance L and the relative speed Vs detected by one transmission/ reception of the rader device, the possibility of a head-on collision can be judged instantaneously at the time of discriminating the oncoming vehicle Ao without continuously detecting relative relation between the driver's own vehicle Ai and the oncoming vehicle Ao by the rader device.</p> |
