摘要 <p>A fast handover method for an IEEE 802.16 network-based IPv6 system is provided to minimize the handover delay time of an MS(Mobile Station) by defining primitives for the interworking between a MAC layer and an IP layer and optimizing FMIPv6(Fast Mobile IPv6) handover procedures and WiBro(Wireless Broadband Internet) handover procedures by using the defined primitives. A PRAS(Previous Radio Access Station) periodically broadcasts a MOB_NBR-ADV message, a neighbor advertisement(S401). If an MS L(Layer)2 finds out new adjacent RASs from the message, the MS L2 transmits a New_RAS_Found message to an MS L3(S10). Prior to this, the MS can execute scanning to obtain more detailed link information. If the MS L3 receives the New_RAS_Found message, the MS L3 exchanges an RtSolPr(Router Solicitation for Proxy) message and a PrRtAdv(Proxy Router Advertisement) message with a PACR(Previous Access Control Router) and acquires information on an ACR connected to a newly founded RAS(S403,S404). If the MS determines a handover, the MS exchanges a MOB_MSHO-REQ message and a MOB_BSHO-RSP message with the PRAS and selects a target RAS(S405,S406). The MS L2 generates a Link_Going_Down message to the MS L3(S20). The MS L3 exchanges an FBU message and a FBAck message with the PACR(S408,S411). The PACR establishes a tunnel by exchanging an HI message and an HAck message with an NACR(New ACR)(S409,S410).</p>
