<p>An automobile air conditioning system or heater has a rotating blower fan. The circular fan disc has a central hub with a first inner array of radial blades, and a second outer array of essentially radial blades terminating in an outer ring in-line with silts aligned with the hub axis. Adjacent blades in the outer ring are separated by gaps forming air flow passages which are convergent. The outer blades have a thick leading edge that tapers to a thin cross-section towards the center. The ratio of blade maximum thickness to chord is greater than 0.25. The fan is made of plastic or a light metal.</p> |
