METHOD OF TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING MESSAGE FOR MEDIA INDEPENDENT HANDOVER HAVING RESOURCE MANAGEMENT FUNCTION OF MOBILE TERMINAL

A message transceiving method for MIH(Media Independent Handover) capable of retaining resources of a mobile terminal is provided to enable an old point of attachment to retain resources when reconnection setup is conducted with the old point of attachment or in case of handover failure, thus the mobile terminal can quickly resume communication with the old point of attachment. A multimode station transmits a handover initiate request message, which includes link action information for requesting resources of the multimode station to be maintained and information for demanding setup of resource retain time when resources are maintained in an old point of attachment, to the old point of attachment of a communication system even after handover is completed(S801-S805). The multimode station receives a handover initiate response message, which includes information on a new point of attachment and information related to preliminary set resource retain time, by the requested resource retain time information(S806-S810).
