A position control system for riveting the fuselage of an airplane, comprising a plate frame to which a riveter is fixed, and which is moved back and forth and side to side, a work frame to which the fuselage is fixed, and which is rotated to form a slope in a horizontal direction, and an automatic riveting machine to which the position control system is applied are provided to perform riveting vertically and increase accuracy of rivet positions by automatically performing riveting. A position control system for riveting the fuselage of an airplane comprises: a board-shaped plate frame(10) having straight line movement means which are formed on the bottom thereof to move the plate frame side to side and back and forth respectively; a post frame(20) with a predetermined height having vertical movement means formed on one side face thereof such that the vertical movement means are movable up and down, wherein respective vertical movement means of the post frame are installed at both sides of the plate frame such that the respective vertical movement means face each other, and a work frame(30) to which the fuselage is fixed is rotatably fixed to the facing vertical movement means; and a control part for controlling straight line motion of the plate frame and vertical motion and rotation of the post frame, wherein a riveting equipment is installed on an upper part of the plate frame, and the fuselage is fixed to the work frame to vertically position a riveting tool on the surface of the fuselage by position control of the control part.
